It’s week 10 already and there are more teams on bye (Packers, Cards, Browns, and Skins) and more spots to fill. Time to elect (eh? huh? yaaa..) just the right guy to step up for your team. Here are this week’s sleepers:
Miami Dolphins WRS vs TENN
Brian Hartline (who was a success on this list last week) and Davone Bess both had good games last week in a close loss in Indy. Week 10 brings the Dolphins home to play a Titans team that has been passed on more times than Aunt Gerbie’s mystery meatloaf. Neither are hardly reliable week-to-week wideouts, but these two games are your best chance at getting points out of them both. QB Ryan Tannehill hasn’t thrown a pick in 4 straight games. The Dolphins play a much weaker Titans pass defense and should provide Hartline and Bess plenty of scoring opportunities.
Shane Vereen RB Patriots vs BUF
In week 4, the Pats ran for 240 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns against the Bills. Buffalo is still bad against the rush giving up the 4th most fantasy points to RBs this season. What’s changed? RB Brandon Bolden who ran for over 140 yards in week 4 is battling injury, and Shave Vareen is coming off his. Vareen has gotten more work in the last 2 games, and could see some carries in what should be a repeat performance in New England. If Bolden remains out, he could be a sneaky play this week.
Brandon Myers TE Raiders @ BALT
Myers is on a lot of waiver lists this week after catching 8 for 59 and 2 td’s. His weekly scoring was always down due to lack of touchdowns, as he regularly got targets. QB Carson Palmer is throwing the ball an average of 44 times a game and while he does spread the ball around, Myers has finally gotten his red zone targets to pay off. This week vs a Ravens defense, who’ve given up the 11th most fantasy points to tight ends, should give Myers a 2nd straight big game.
Vick Ballard RB Colts @ JAX
Ballard was expected to share time with Donald Brown, who just back from injury, ended up ceding most of the carries. Ballard should be the man until Brown is fully healed, and even then he deserves time on the field. Week 10 brings a great matchup vs a Jags defense that has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to running backs this season, and were beaten badly last week by Detroit giving up 3 rushing touchdowns. If Brown remains out, Ballard is a good play here.
Lawrence Tynes K Giants @ CIN
You need a kicker? Just call Larry! Tynes has already kicked 26 field goals (just 1 shy of career record), and leads all kickers in fantasy points in the last 4 weeks. The Bengals have given up the 9th most fantasy points to kickers so far, and should give Tynes more than a few shots this week.
Emmanuel Sanders WR Steelers vs K.C.
I’m adding a sixth sleeper because I slid another kicker in this week. Sanders has had a pretty bland season, catching 24 for 302 and a single TD. However, he could be a good play as Antonio Brown has been ruled out of this week’s game vs the Chiefs. It’s likely Wallace and Miller will get most of the targets, but Sanders could use this opportunity to have a break out game. If you need to fill a WR spot, Sanders might be your man.
Sleepers plus: M. Reece RB OAK @ balt, K. Britt WR TENN @ mia, T. Cadet RB N.O. vs atl
